Our team was really delighted to receive £84,099 in follow-on-funding from the AHRC for a project entitled 'Decolonising English Studies in and Beyond the Classroom'. We will be working with 16-18 year old learners, their teachers, UK exam boards and colleagues from across the world to co-create an online educational resource about South African literature.

You can read a University of Salford news item about the project here.

AHRC Follow-on-Funding is really important because it helps researchers take early academic work and turn it into something with real-world impact. I think funding like this works best when projects are clearly planned and have a strong communication strategy so the research doesn’t just stay within academic circles. Sharing findings in an accessible way is just as important as the research itself. That’s why many scholars also work with a book publishing service to turn detailed research into readable publications for a wider audience.
